The Core Flow Fitness™ Approach

Core Flow™ is a system of fitness and body awareness techniques founded in a dance perspective. Working from the classics in movement, Core Flow™ creates long lean muscle, grace, and a body free from pain. Classes incorporate deep stretching, isometrics and stabilization techniques derived from yoga, pilates and formal dance techniques. These principles inform a series of movement patterns, creating length throughout the entire body and space inside the joints.

The Core Flow™ approach is focused on identifying neuromuscular connections and developing correct biomechanics and postural/structural awareness.  In Core Flow™, your body is the machine –  and not just any machine, but a race car tuned in top condition. Beginning with the feet as an architectural foundation for the body, Janet Welsh, MFA focuses on overall body and breath awareness. It’s a workout that creates body consciousness throughout your entire life. Students learn to connect the specific muscle groups that support a balanced body; of particular importance are the connections between abdominal/lower back, shoulder blades/ribs and pelvis/feet.

It’s not important if you’ve never worked out in your entire life or if you are an elite athlete. Core Flow™ will bring a deeper understanding of efficiency to your movement at any level – whether you want to eliminate lower back pain or take minutes off your running mile. Ultimately, Core Flow™ will give you increased range of motion, balance, dynamic flexibility and core strength.  You can expect a more graceful and sculpted body, embodying confidence, presence and ease of movement.
